Salsa
One
of the most important and popular streams in Caribbean dance
at this moment is Salsa. This partner dance has its origin in the
Caribbean where it was created by the unique fusion of European grace,
African rhythm and Caribbean dances like Merengue, Bolero and
Son. Salsa means literally 'sauce'. Just as in every good blended
sauce the base ingredients stay the same each lesson, but every time we give
it more and more flavour. Salsa is a dance for two. Salsa is
fast, sultry and sensual. Salsa provides you with freedom for creativity
and improvisation. Salsa is moving in harmony, with the music
as well with each other. Always different, alternate and varied. Salsa is irresistible.
The most popular dance at this moment.
All Salsa levels are danced 'with left', also known as the international
style (LA-style). The classes are based on the specific Antillian
Salsa style of 'Dos Bailadores' with emphasis on elegant, rhythmic
and harmonic movements. The classes are provided at 7 levels. The beginners class is very suitable to start with, even if you never danced before.
Level 1 - Beginners class
In the beginners class the following base dances will be introduced:
- Merengue, a cheerful and easy-to-learn dance from the Dominican Republic
- Salsa, quick and sultry, the most popular dance at this moment
Level 2 - Follow-up class
The dances that were learned during the beginners class, especially Salsa, will be extended. Every lesson we
pay attention to your technique. Also attention will be paid to Cha
Cha Cha.
Level 3 till 6 - (Semi-)advanced
In these classes special emphasis on Salsa. The different
figure combinations and dance styles will be handled extensively.
On level 5 and 6 also attention will be paid to Rueda de Casino.
Level 7 - Advanced
In this class you will learn to combine the Antillian Salsa style with the LA-style. The Antillian style (somewhat comparable with
Cuban Salsa) was the first style of Salsa we learned in The Netherlands.
Typical for this style are the more rotating and fluent movements,
compared with dancing in a line in the LA-style. An addition to
your Salsa experience and unique at Dos Bailadores. Participation
is possible if you finished Salsa level 5 or 6.
Salsamenvatting (Salsummarise)
Have you finished all 7 Salsa levels, but want to refresh all figures? Then this class will fit you! In this class you will refresh all figures up till level 7 and attention will be paid to the finishing touch! Start in April 2012.
Salsa Plus

is possible, depending on the wishes of the group: repeating combinations,
new figures, dance technique etc. Every season the class is different.
Registration with a dance partner required.

that are not in the regular program. For class participants from level 5 and above or at least 1 year of Salsa experience. Registration with a dance partner required. On the schedule for January 2012 will be Paul Baarn, Dudley Angela and Ronald Weberink.
Salsa 1/2 fast

Salsa Flow (Masters of Salsa / teacher: William)
Are you aspiring to become a partnering animal, your natural choice is Flow. Flow is the most beautiful elements of Salsa. Flow means that you and your partner remain in constant motion and as water -with accelerations and decelerations- harmoniously flow past each other. Flow, as used in the lessons, has a strong base and is simply build & combined with whole & half turns for both partners. Want to know more? Please visit www.mastersofsalsa.com.
Salsa Advanced (Masters of Salsa / teacher: Patrick)
Salsa Advanced adds more detail to the knowledge you already have. The techniques taught in level 1-7 are extended with a number of combinations and shines, and there will also be focused on motion and performance. Want to know more? Please visit www.mastersofsalsa.com.

Axé
Axé music (pronounce like ah-sh-eh) is very popular in Brazil. The rhythm originated in the early 90's in Bahia, a rich north-eastern state in Brazil. It is a mix of Samba-Reggae with Salsa, Rock, Merengue and Lambada. This Brazilian 'Zumba' is an energetic, individual dance that is danced by a group of people. The movements are a combination of African, Brazilian and Caribbean dances. You make the same dance combinations with all the people. Axé is very suitable to improve your condition and figure. The music is rhythmic and whipping. This energetic and enervating way of dancing is a welcome and pleasant diversion of your daily occupations. No experience and no dance partner required!

Bachata
Together
with Merengue, Bachata has its origin the Dominican
Republic. Bachata (=making fun) is dance music that originates
from the country in the beginning of the 1960's. Joy and melancholy
come together and give their form to this music, that is also known
as the Dominican variant of the Bolero. The music is characterised
by the acoustic guitar, bongo and maracas. Nowadays Bachata is
not longer the typical country music from the early days. It has
grown to a dance and music style that is very popular over the whole
Dominican nation and it now slowly begins to become popular in Europa
and the United States. In the modern version of this partner dance the base steps are completed
by a lot of feet movements and figures. This style is influenced by other
dances such as Merengue and Salsa. The figures from
these dances are applied in Bachata which resulted in faster
and more whipping music.
The Dominican Rafael Espinal provides the classes. Rafael is known
as the Salsa, Merengue and Bachata expert.

Baila Latina Kids
A
joyful, swinging dance class for young children, where Salsa, Merengue,
Axé (Brazilian beach dance) and Streetdance will be mixed.
We exercise on Caribbean/Brazilian music as well as popular Top 40
and R&B music. In one class they will learn several movements/choreographies
and at the end of the class they learned a combined dance that suits
their age, and that can be performed at the open day. In brief: a
lot of fun and exercise for the kids. For children from 3 till 5 yeas and from 6 till 12 years old. Now there is also a show group! Teacher: Susanne (Astrid, Marjolein, Willemijn).
New!!! Baila Latina 3-5 years: upon many requests we will have a special class for the very young children where they will learn various nice kids dances! The dances are adapted to their age, e.g. K3, Sesame Street, animation songs, Brazilian/Caribbean songs, Top 40 etc. The classes are mainly without effort, just dance, move and especially making a lot of fun! To get introduced to music is good for their mental and physical condition.

Bellydance
Bellydance 'Latina' or 'Shakira' style. Another better name is raqs sharki (Oriental dance), because when you hear the word Bellydance you probably only think of moving the belly. However, it is much more than that. In this dance isolation is the keyword. A complete control of your whole body and in particular the pelvis. This dance is a female matter, where you primarily give expression to the music and rhythms with swaying and rolling movements with your body. Bellydance has become very popular as it is more and more used in music clips. Think for example of Shakira. As longer the course progresses you will see that also Beyoncé, Fergie and other artists apply bellydance in their clips. The techniques of this dance can also very well be applied in Salsa, Zouk and Zumba dancing.

Percussion
During the Percussion workshop you will learn more about the rhythms in Caribbean music, the instruments, on which instruments you can dance and you will also play instruments yourself. Very instructive if you want to better understand the music and want to better hear the timing and rhythm. A useful extension to your Salsa dance course! The course will be given by the Dominican Rafael Espinal. Rafael is known as the Salsa, Merengue and Bachata expert.
Rueda de Casino
Rueda de Casino, often abbreviated as Rueda (=wheel), is a social Cuban dance where couples dance synchronously in a circle. During the dance there is a constant changing of partners. It is danced on lively, up-beat Salsa music and is a joyful spectacle. Rueda is mostly danced with 3 to 6 couples. De caller shouts the names of the moves that are to be danced after which most times the partners change. In the classes Salsa level 5 and 6 attention will be paid to the Rueda. On a regular base short classes or workshops Rueda are organised for beginners, as well for advanced dancers. Salsa experience is required!
Salsa Styling
Salsa Ladystyling (formerly Solo Salseras) is a special Salsa class for women with at least Salsa level 2 experience. Special attention will be paid to co-ordination and balance, feet movements ('open shines'), arm movements, elegance of the lady in the Salsa, individual dancing and dancing right and left.
NEW!!! Salsa Ladystyling Choreo
In this brand new class you will learn a short choreography in which all elements of styling will be used: elegance, sexyness, technique and body movements. It is the intention that the learned choreography will be performed for an audience, e.g. at a dance night and at the open day. This class is suitable for ladies that love challenge and have at least 1½ years of experience with Salsa.
Salsa Menstyling is a special Salsa class for men. In this class you will learn the details of Salsa. Attention will be paid to e.g. leading of the lady, dance technique, improvisation and music interpretation.

Salsa for Parkinson patients
Also in 2012, on the Friday morning, Dos Bailadores will provide
Salsa classes for Parkinson patients and people that want
to learn Salsa in a more quiet way.
The first classes, developed together with dance school SalsAventura,
have been finished in the meantime and the results as well as the
reactions are overwhelming. "Dancing (moving) on music is an
ideal therapy", states one of the initiators. The special thing
for this group of people is the confirmation of what is still possible,
and not what is not possible anymore. In the meantime, this course
program is offered at several other (Salsa) dance schools.
On Friday 4 May 2012 the new classes will start. The classes are also open for healthy partners, for all other people that have problems with motion and for those people a regular class is too fast.
In co-operation with dance schools SalsAventura and Sizzling Salsa we made a special brochure. When you want to help us spreading the Salsa virus within this special group of people, please let us know and we will send you the brochures.
Registration on this website or by telephone on working days 06-54206755 or 071-5222233.

Samba de Gafieira
The Samba, a pre-eminent Brazilian dance, has become famous through the yearly Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. Carnival type Samba is a free, powerful, and fun solo dance. Hips, legs and feet move synchronously on a quick, whipping rhythm, as well as on a slow and romantic Bossa Nova or Samba de Pagode. Particularly in Rio de Janeiro the Samba is also popular as a partner dance, known as 'Samba de Gafieira', literally 'Ballroom Samba'. However, this dance is very different from the classic Ballroom Samba that is danced competitively in the United States and in Europe. Dos Bailadores provides an original Brazilian class Samba de Gafieira.

Argentinian Tango
The Argentinian Tango is a silent dialog of temptation, fantasy
and sensuality. The roots of this dance are based in the melancholy
and the nostalgy of South European immigrants in the Argentinian
lower class districts and of the poor inhabitants of the pampa's,
who tried to find a better life in the town. Abused as vulgar brothel
dance by the Argentinian upper class at the beginning of the twentieth
century, afterwards clasped into the heart of the same upper class,
and from the sixties kicked into a corner by the rock-'n-roll and
disco music, the Tango started with a come-back in the last
decennia. For the younger generation Argentinians, the Tango is
a symbol of national pride. Also outside Argentinia the Tango started
with a giant come-back in the eighties.
Everybody who wants to experience the devotion to the warm sounds of the bandoneon,
bass and violin of the Tango, can follow the starters class Argentinian
Tango. In this class, under supervision of Yvonne Meissner, her assistants and guest teachers, you will
learn the music, the base steps and those small movements to ravish each other in the Argentinian Tango. There is also a possibility to follow advanced classes. Dance partner required !

Zouk
Zouk (=party
in Creole) is a hi-tech music style which is very popular on the
French Antilles islands (Guadeloupe and Martinique) and the African
islands of Cape Verde. Zouk was created in the late '70s by
a small group of Guadeloupian musicians residing in Paris. Traditional
African and Caribbean rhythms were put into a computer which resulted
in a kind of 'Caribi-Dance'. The current Zouk music has a wide variety
of styles, but the typical Zouk rhythm can be recognised clearly
in each style.
The Zouk is a sensual and graceful partner dance that has evolved
from Lambada, a dance which was born in Porto Seguro, Bahia,
Brazil. Dancing Zouk is therefore very popular in Brasil.
This partnerdance is characterized by its 'wavy' movements with many
turns. It includes elements common to Hustle, Salsa, Merengue, Samba,
Swing and others. The music makes you feel like you can't sit still. Zouk is
not only an elegant, graceful and beautiful dance, but also good
exercise, stress relieving, and especially fun!
Zouk Club: This class is suitable for the experienced dancer that wants to get insprired by several top teachers from The Netherlands and from abroad. Scheduled for January 2012 is Pasty, Daniëlle, Utty & Ellen, Mr. Dragon and Willem. Each teacher will provide two lessons. As a real Zouk lover you should not miss this class!

Zumba
In
April 2009 we have started with Zumba! Zumba is a new fitness phenomenon
on dynamic Latin music and other world music, full of unique and
exotic dance steps. The name Zumba comes from Colombian-Spanish,
and means something like fast movement and having fun. It has been
introduced by Alberto Beto Perez, a dancer and choreograph from Miami.
Zumba consists of fitness-excercises and dance steps on music, comparable
with aerobics but then with whipping, dynamic Latin sounds. It is
a mix of dances such as Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Samba,
Hiphop, Flamenco and Bellydance. Dancing and at the same time working
on a better condition, stronger muscles and burning calories, that
